HONORED BEYOND WORDS
February 22, 2025Unless someone speaks them out loud. And you happen to hear them.
These are the thoughts that shape decisions—thoughts that influence perspectives on women, often unnoticed and unchallenged.
They come from people you wouldn’t suspect, those who smile at you, unaware of the impact of their words. And even from women themselves.
Here’s an example:
I once heard a respected decision-maker explain why he preferred hiring a man for a QM position in production. His reason?
“We need a man, not a woman—someone who will be respected by the employees in production.”
And the irony? He likely thought he was doing women a favor.
So, what do you do when you hear such words?
Whether you’re a feminist, a woman, a man, or someone who believes in fairness—you question.
It takes all of us to uplift women and challenge the roles that have been traditionally “reserved” for men. When you hear comments like these, speak up. Ask questions. Start a conversation. Whether in the moment or in private—it makes a difference.
At first, I was too stunned to respond. But I’ve learned that questioning and engaging in dialogue creates change.
It works like magic.
We don’t choose how we were raised, but we can choose to challenge the ideas that limit and diminish women.
Does this still happen in 2025? Unfortunately, yes.
So, do you look away, or do you question?
I celebrate all of you who choose to challenge, question, and make bold decisions—despite what others may say.
Speak up, even if the decision won’t affect you directly.
