BEING DIFFERENT AND REJECTIONS – How can a professional approach succeed?
January 9, 2022“MRS OMONDI, NOW I HAVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING…”
January 30, 2022I love how kids keep waking me up.
When my son was still in kindergarten, one day he just wanted to stay at home.
He didn’t understand why he should stop playing and do what we wanted him to do.
On the one hand, we understood him. On the other hand, we had appointments ourselves.
My husband, who is so good and patient at explaining things, took his time and started pointing his fingers:
“There are 7 days in the week…”
he started and my son listened to him attentively. Nodding, he showed that he understood the first part…
“Monday to Friday we go to work or to kindergarten…” my husband continued, showing 5 fingers. My son continued to nod in understanding.
“We are at home from Saturday to Sunday. And today is not Sunday” – he finishes his explanation with two fingers. My son looks at him and says with such confidence,
“Then why don’t we just start with Sunday today?”
Honestly? We didn’t expect such an answer. Thought differently and yet so appropriate. This answer still accompanies us at home – in order to consciously find a different solution.
We weren’t able to swap the days of the week that day, and yet this way of thinking accompanies me in my professional life as well.
Why does everything always have to go the same way?
When customers or colleagues tell me: “I’ve never seen it that way before” or “Your approach is different, but why not…” then that’s a compliment for me.
Today I am happy to pass this compliment on to Michaela Rietz .
This picture was taken last Sunday at the event “The Magic of Diversity”.
Right after the magical meeting, she sent me this picture – magical. Thank you very much Michaela Rietz
I would like to thank everyone who, like Michaela, defines their “Sundays” themselves.
Now to you: which question from children or colleagues in your environment make you rethink?
