Not long ago, my city organized citizen workshops with great topics. We were able to actively participate and help shape the city.

On a great Saturday, I went cheerfully. I was about to show my ID when I was greeted as “THE WORKSHOP IS ONLY FOR CITIZENS”

I just asked “why am I on the list”?

I was very surprised. I often forget my skin color. Until someone, like on this day, thinks he/she has to protect me from myself.

A friend listened to me sympathetically. I also told her how the workshop was and how some who attended were suddenly surprised when presenting the results: “Wow, where did you learn to present?”.

Yes, we will always come across such statements. Accepted.

So what next? I continue to show myself, go out with my message, take my responsibility and my rights and vote, like today in Baden-Wüttemberg….

I remain curious and question my perception.
