WHAT ARE WE LOOKING AT TODAY?
December 31, 2023MOM, WE’VE SEEN YOUR FIRST BOOK.
January 14, 2024A colleague once asked me and made me very curious why he wanted to know that.
My colleague lives in Switzerland, grew up in Spain and has many years of professional experience in Germany or with German colleagues.
I called him a number that day. He then said:
“Oh, then you’re not integrated yet.”
We laughed. Knowing that the quest for security in Germany is very strong compared to other countries we know.
He said that during a stay in Germany (a team from different countries) they had noticed that you recognize your “Germanness” by the number of insurances – regardless of the passport.
Remember the story of mine called “Why don’t they preserve mangoes?” 👇🏾
Without a safety mindset, I don’t think we would have made as much progress here as we do now. There are definitely huge benefits to this.
In 2005, a dear friend gave me a book by Maxim Gorski, who writes his observation in the book “Instruction Manual Germany”. He noted that we like to protect ourselves in this country – so much so that there are even people who are overinsured today and therefore have hardly any money for life.
I was very “impressed” by this. Since then, I’ve been paying attention to whether insurance is of any use to me.
I would add that today it is probably subscriptions and memberships that make us “poorer” if we are not careful.
I can confirm from my own experience that security thinking in Germany is much stronger than in Kenya as an example.
My brother Tito in Kenya is an insurance expert. I told him the other day: “You’re in the wrong country with your business”:-), because from our point of view, most people there don’t even consider the “basic insurance” to be necessary.
Exactly in which insurance companies we are world champions, and our motivations for doing so, are certainly exciting to explore.
Everyone can find out for themselves.
Personally, I would like Kenyans to learn from Germany to take more precautions for themselves.
… and I wish us in Germany / Switzerland more serenity – where appropriate.
My question to you: How calm are you?
How many insurances do I need to have to be integrated? 🙂
